  1. So is that why it’s now covered in a big tarp?

  2. Mari – yes, as reported at last night’s Shaw Main Streets Development Forum, Douglas Development is doing a full restoration of the exterior of the building. Living Social will take occupancy in February 2012 if all goes well — the intereior isn’t undergoing too much of a transformation (it’ll get new electrical, mechanical, etc., but not gutted or anything), as the desired look is a cool, raw, industrial feel as is already present.

hoooooray! another empty dump goes in to productive use! i love living social, welcome to the hood ;)

  4. I was kind of hoping maybe someone would move in that offered something for people to actually do something. I have no idea what, but something tells me I can’t hang out with the Living Social staff on the weekends.

That stretch between Gallery Place/Chinatown to the convention center is like a black hole. The corner of 7th and New York Ave could’ve been more useful to people who actually work/live/play in the area. I’d like to see a Playseum type thing open there (of course I just had my first child last year otherwise I would’ve said another bar!).

Either-or, I’m glad to see someone is finally moving in. There’s still a lot of real estate to add some life to.
