  1. I don’t think it’s any better, just different. Plus, I wonder if we really need to spend more money on a new school, rather than just redistributing the students to other high schools, given the relatively small population of high school students in the various schools.

    I’d think it better to invest the money in improving the education that students receive inside the building, rather than replacing the building itself. Just because the new building may look nicer, it doesn’t mean the education is better.

    There is active reform in the education system that kicked into high gear with Michelle Rhee. Vincent Gray claims that education reform will continue to be an emphasis during his term. I’m sure we’d all like to see faster results from the reform initiative but there has been progress.

    Improving the facilities is also part of the equation as well. Given all the population growth occurring in the PQ/MV/NoMa areas I believe it is worthwhile to upgrade our facilities rather than just shutter them.
