A message from BicycleSPACE:
Further planning has centered on a host of exciting events that we will sponsor. Among other things, we are developing ideas for group rides that will cater to all types of riders. We will have a strong focus on exploring parts of the city particularly in Northeast and Southeast that might be fairly unfamiliar to many local cyclists. It can be all too easy to get into a routine and stick to the same old rides but there are endless options for challenging and scenic routes in all sections of DC.
Please consider joining us for our first group ride at 11am on Saturday, June 19th. From the store, Jordan, our General Manager, will lead the group north on the Metropolitan Branch Trail around and past Catholic University. From there, the group will cruise by the Fort Totten and Takoma Metro stations on the way to Sligo Creek Parkway. This is a pleasant stretch of woodsy road with very limited traffic. Veering off of the Parkway, the group will head west and cross over the Beltway off of Seminary Road in Silver Spring. This key connection will deliver the group onto Jones Mill Road and, ultimately, Beach Drive to head south through Rock Creek Park and back to the store. This ride covers about 20-25 miles which we will tackle at a moderate pace. All riders are welcome–please bring a helmet and water.
