Sadly, this was removed yesterday. :(

FYI, there’s a GREAT documentary at E Street Cinema on street artists with live footage of London’s “Bangsy” and Shepard Fairey.

While I’m not a fan of gang graphitti, but I absolutely love street art! There are a number of amazing street artists in DC & this person (who I’m proud to know) is one of them.

Just an idea, but what would people think if we officially allowed street artists the opportunity (upon establishing agreements with property owners) to submit artwork for MVT CID approval? We could then allocate approved space in the triangle to post their work.

Shepard Fairey did several installations around DC (Logan Hardware is one – it’s remarkable. He also did some work in Chinatown & on the side of Marvin up at U St.. I think if it’s art vs. a tag, it looks a heck of a lot better than a plain, blighted building. Brings some fun to the block. :)

**CORRECTION** I saw the MVT Clean Team trying to remove it – don’t know if he was successful or not & I didn’t pay attention this morning when I walked by – so it may still be there. Hope so! ;)

I think it’s a GOOD idea and I LOVE Fairey’s work @ Logan Hardware. Great stuff!
