24 Year Prison Sentence for Tunnel Wines and Spirits Armed Robbery and Shooting

Robert D. Black, a 52 year old District resident was sentenced to 24 years in prison following his conviction by a DC Superior Court jury in the armed robbery and shooting of the Manager of the Tunnel Wines and Spirits liquor store that occurred on December 22nd, 2007. After the shooting the defendant drove away in a van and following a city-wide broadcast, members of the Seventh District spotted the van in the 2600 block of Naylor Rd SE. The defendant was stopped. Recovered was a loaded revolver and two spent cartridge casings from his pants.
U.S Attorney Jeffrey Taylor acknowledged the efforts of several MPD personnel- including the First and Seventh District Officers, Detectives and Crime Scene Search Officers along with members of his staff for the successful prosecution of this nefarious offense.
