Thank to the Mount Vernon Triangle CID, new street signs have been added to the neighborhood to show the location of two historic streets. Both 4 1/2 Street NW and Prather’s Alley are now officially designated with this signage. Prather’s Alley is especially interesting as it was the location of private stables and various businesses in the late 1800’s. The stables ultimately disappeared to make way for one of the District’s largest bakeries of the day owned by Charles Schneider.
