It was reported on December 1, 2014 by NBC News Washington that the developer, Property Group Partners, for Capitol Crossing has requested from the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA) that the north portion of I-395 between D Street NW and New York Avenue NW as well as the 3rd Street southbound on-ramp be closed to accelerate the development schedule. The developer had previously stated that this would never be the case. The full NBC Washington report is here.
This proposal would impact the 90,000 vehicles per day use the 3rd Street tunnel along with traffic in and around the Triangle.
What do you think of the proposed closure of I-395?
