Beyond the race for Mayor of the District, this week you have an early opportunity to also make your voice heard on some very important local races. The best site to view your individual ballot in advance of going to your polling location is at the League of Women Voter’s website.
Of note to Triangle residents is the election of Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners for ANC 6E as well as the opportunity to vote in three races for membership on the City Council. The ANC is the body that advises the Mayor, Council and District agencies about issues that impact the immediate neighborhood such as crime, parking, zoning, liquor licenses, etc.
Marge Maceda, our current ANC 6E05 Commissioner who represents most of the Mount Vernon Triangle, is a City Vista resident and is running unopposed. The ANC 6E07 Commissioner race is between Alfreda Judd, incumbent, and Rosemary Segero – this seat represents the edge of Mount Vernon Triangle and the neighborhoods to the east. And in the ANC6E04 race, Clyde Brown is running against incumbent Rachelle Nigro. Any candidate running for an ANC 6E office is invited to submit a candidate statement in the comments section.
The Triangle is in Ward Six with Charles Allen, Democrat, running against Libertarian Pranav Badhwa for a spot on the District’s City Council. Mark Naydan is running against Joe Weedon for the Ward Six slot on the State Board of Education.
Early voting is currently underway in the District through Saturday, November 1st with the two closest locations for Triangle residents being:
One Judiciary Square, 441 4th St. NW
Sherwood Recreation Center, 640 10th St. NE
Both locations are open from 8:30 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.
