Not just parking lots. That phrase originated as a reminder to District elected and government officials that they needed to serve the residents that now called this part of the city home. I moved to the Mount Vernon Triangle in 2006 from Austin, Texas when the neighborhood consisted of a few buildings and promises of a grocery store, restaurants, entertainment and more. Although a great deal has changed since I moved to the neighborhood and the blog began, there are still some urban growing pains yet to happen with more developments about to break ground and the community becoming more dense and vibrant. My goal for this blog is to keep to the original focus of providing a forum for Triangle neighbors to comment on topics that impact the community and to be a source of information about restaurant and retail openings and other happenings of interest.
You may notice a few new features have been added to the blog page. The Triangle blog now has a new masthead featuring the public art at 5th and K St NW. You will also have the opportunity to keep up with the area’s real estate market with the neighborhood property search tool. Over time, I plan to enrich the site by providing resources such as a listing of local services and businesses.
