D4 Mixed Signals

Late last year the D4 Metrobus was modified into a Trinidad to Franklin Square line. This re-route added new service to K Street through the Mount Vernon Triangle.

The bus is a positive addition as K Street was underserved by Transit – but what’s with keeping the parking meters in the space occupied by the bus stop?

that’s not the only problem. wmata hasn’t taken the time to update the programming for the electronic signs on the buses, so when they are heading downtown, sometimes the bus driver just leaves them turned off, so you don’t know where the bus is going.

i ride the bus to get to work on bad weather days, and when you’re standing and waiting on montello avenue in trinidad, you’d like to know if that bus is a D3, D4, or D8. you can’t tell now, you have to ask the bus driver, and as we all know, sometimes wmata drivers are less-than-friendly.

doesn’t seem to be a problem heading away from downtown, since ivy city has always been the terminus of the D4 line in that direction.
